A Place For My Stuff

I can see it on your table, everybody's got a little place for their stuff. This is my stuff, that's your stuff, that'll be his stuff over there. That's all you need in life, a little place for your stuff. That's all your house is: a place to keep your stuff. If you didn't have so much stuff, you wouldn't need a house. You could just walk around all the time.

A house is just a pile of stuff with a cover on it. You can see that when you're taking off in an airplane. You look down, you see everybody's got a little pile of stuff. All the little piles of stuff. And when you leave your house, you gotta lock it up. Wouldn't want somebody to come by and take some of your stuff. They always take the good stuff. They never bother with that crap you're saving. All they want is the shiny stuff. That's what your house is, a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get...more stuff!

Sometimes you gotta move, gotta get a bigger house. Why? No room for your stuff anymore. Did you ever notice when you go to somebody else's house, you never quite feel a hundred percent at home? You know why? No room for your stuff. Somebody else's stuff is all over the goddamn place! And if you stay overnight, unexpectedly, they give you a little bedroom to sleep in. Bedroom they haven't used in about eleven years. Someone died in it, eleven years ago. And they haven't moved any of his stuff! Right next to the bed there's usually a dresser or a bureau of some kind, and there's NO ROOM for your stuff on it. Somebody else's shit is on the dresser.

George Carlin -1937年5月12日生於紐約曼哈頓。美國著名的脫口秀演員。
以其特有的叛逆態度挑戰各種禁忌主題，內容犀利絲毫不留迴避餘地。
對於各種心理向限、宗教、死亡等議題經常有超乎當時社會大眾所能接受的限度。

本影片為George Carlin 2005年的表演片段，"There is No God"。

"I've begun worshipping the sun for a number of reasons.
First of all, unlike some other gods I could mention, I can see the sun.
It's there for me every day.
And the things it brings me are quite apparent all the time: heat, light, food, a lovely day.
There's no mystery, no one asks for money, I don't have to dress up, and there's no boring pageantry.
And interestingly enough, I have found that the prayers I offer to the sun and the prayers I formerly offered to "God" are all answered at about the same 50-percent rate."

Peter Finch,30年前在NetWork的演出，時至今日，30年後仍舊令人屏息的場面，
或許是電影史上最強悍的獨白。

他因本片獲得奧斯卡最佳男主角提名。但卻在頒獎典禮之前幾個月死於心臟病。成為了唯一在死後得獎的奧斯卡男主角。

這部電影拍攝於1976年，Peter Finch 飾演一個瘋狂的先知，在電視上說出預言而使節目大受歡迎。
影片中最著名的經典名句：

"I'm Mad as hell!and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"

看他的獨白，想想30年後的世界，離他說的這些一點也不遠。
哲人以逝，訊息永存。

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad.

"Network",1976年的電影。 一部絕對令人敬畏的影片。
30年前，在電影中，扮演"媒體先知"的演員Howard Beale在當時所說出來的話，
30年後的今天，"預言"顯得更為真實。

媒體是什麼？30年前有人下了定論。

本影片導演Sidney　Lumet，已獲得奧斯卡終身成就獎。
執導過的影片包含「熱天午後」(Dog　Day　Afternoon)、《十二怒漢》(12　Angry　Men)、《衝突》(Serpico)，
